Repairs and Restoration

East Window at Catherston Leweston. Correcting bowing and sagging by releading throughout, changing tie bars to phosphor bronze, replacing crizzled glass with new painted to resemble the original, plus associated masonry repairs. Stinsford Window. The Original Victorian windows were replaced in 2000 with new leaded lights that contain parts of the original windows, plus small panels with engraved inscriptions.

A repair may be a straightforward in situ replacement of a single pane of glass, or the removal to the workshop of a part or complete window for reglazing and releading.

Cracks can be joined with thin leads, or edge bonded, with lost areas reinterpreted with new sympathetically painted glass.

Prior to the commencement of any intervention to a window a full working methodology based upon the Corpus Vitreanum (CVMA) guidelines is agreed with the client.
